Let's Do Something DIFFERENT to Learn About a Different Mobile Device!
Everybody knows the ipad! This week's self-exploration lesson is about how we use the ipad in the classroom. In the true sense of UBD (backwards design), I am offering your assignment first. Read through the assignment and think about it before you venture forward.
Your assignment for this week (due next Sunday):
Create a set of lesson plans (NOT more than three) for a unit of instruction and share how you would utilize an ipad in each of these categories (color-code the use of your tools as indicated below):
As a teacher presentation tool (grey) As a guest lecturer (navy blue) As an e- reader (hot pink) As a music device (red) As a note-taker (aqua) As a "center" (green) As a "writing tool" (yellow) As a review tool (purple) As a research tool (turquoise) As a content support (orange)
Following the inclusion in the lesson, please comment on why you selected the app. Again, I'm not suggesting it would ever be appropriate to use any tool this much in a few lessons, but to get you to think about using this amazing device.
I found this lesson plan in the Google Docs Template Gallery and modified it. BE SURE to copy it to your own Google Drive, then complete it (there are three lesson plans on the same document). If you have a lesson plan template that you prefer, please don’t hesitate to use it.
When you are done with your three google docs lesson plans, send me the link to them (don't forget to "share" it with me, giving me "comment rights").
Now, it's time for something called "learning exploration." Instead of guiding the learner directly and sequentially though the desired learning, I am providing you with a series of annotated resources for you to explore.
